TellyNation: A television celebration

Hi, TellyNation is a new TV themed event taking place on 31st March to
2nd April in Swindon with profits going to Cancer Research UK. I hope you
find this information useful.

TellyNation intends to celebrate a wide range of TV series, past and
present and give you the opportunity to meet guests from both sides
of the camera and learn more about how your favourite shows are made.

At the time of writing the guest list includes actors:

Angela Bruce from Angels, Red Dwarf, Doctor Who.

George Christopher who played Ziggy Greaves in Grange Hill.

Michael Keating from Blake's 7 & Eastenders.

Burt Kwouk from The Pink Panther Movies, 3 Bond films, Tenko, Monkey
and Banzai.

Francis Matthews from Captain Scarlet, Paul Temple and many Hammer
films.

Brian Murphy from George and Mildred, The Booze Cruise and The
Catherine Tate Show.

Linda Regan from Hi-de-Hi, and Carry On.

Jason Salkey who played Rifleman Harris in Sharpe. and who shot to
fame in a Miller Lite advert.

Nadim Sawalha from The Professionals, Survivors 2 Bond Films and
lots of other shows,

and Lalla Ward from Doctor Who, The Duchess of Duke Street.

Tony Hoare wrote extensively for Minder, and includes many episodes
of crime drama such as The Sweeney on his CV.

Mike Joyce is a production designer who has worked on an array of
television from Gerry Anderson's Secret Service (as a puppet
builder), through Puddle Lane and 3-2-1, to Minder, Sharpe and
Hornblower.

Our MC for the weekend will be writer Paul Cornell, who wrote an
episode for the Christopher Eccleston series of Doctor Who amongst
many others things.

Comedy expert Robert Ross will be a guest interviewer.

There will also be Daleks lurking to scare the children.

We will be hosting a number of guests in addition to the above list who will
be signing autographs across the weekend, a charge will be made separately
for these autographs (average £10) The first guest on this list is Damaris
Hayman, who is very well known to Doctor Who fans as Mis Hawthorne from The
Daemons, and who has had a varied 50 year career as an actress. Thanks to
Ian Burgess of Cineffigy for arranging for Damaris to join us. Ian will be
arranging further Doctor Who guests for this section of the event shortly.


The event will run from 6pm on Friday 31st March to very late on
Sunday 2nd April.

On the Saturday and Sunday nights, full ticket holders will dine in
style with cabaret entertainment.

For a limited number of budding scriptwriters, you may take part in
a 4 hour Sitcom Trials master class on the Saturday afternoon with
the chance of your play being performed in the evening as part of
our "Posh Frocks" Banquet where you can see the first half of
several scripts being performed, and vote to see the conclusion of
your favourite. Please get in touch quickly if you want to reserve a
place in the master class.

On the Sunday evening, there will be a reception and buffet, and Ian
Watt's acclaimed show: John Laurie, Frazer and I. Each evening
there will be a late night disco for the party animals, with the
events ending at 1.00am on the Monday morning.

The event is being held at the Hilton Hotel, Swindon, Wiltshire, UK, just
off
junction 16 of the M4, rooms are available from £30 per person B&B
sharing a room, or £50 for a single. To book accommodation there you
must telephone 01793 881777 and say you wish to book for the
TellyNation convention. You cannot book for this event via their
website or central reservations number.

Tickets atart at £5 for a restricted access ticket, come in, have a look around and pay as you go.

For £40 per day, (10.00 to 5.00) you can have full access to the events and talks, and get autographs from our main guests for free.

Full weekend tickets are available now at only £95 per adult including
talks, most autographs and 2 fantastic evening meals and cabarets. Children
are welcome at very reduced prices.
